Press Release: The Florida-Israel Business Accelerator & The Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation Partner to Support Israeli Startups Expanding to South Florida

Tampa Florida (June 23, 2022) — The Florida-Israel Business Accelerator (FIBA) is pleased to announce its new strategic collaboration with The Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation (Levan Center), an industry magnet for talent and innovation in technology. FIBA will be expanding its operations into South Florida by becoming a member of the Levan Center.

Through the collaboration, Israeli tech companies and startups working with FIBA will have access to using the Levan Center’s facilities and programs when they are in South Florida. The goal is to help the Israeli organizations establish a presence within the Florida market. As a gateway and connector between entrepreneurs, leading companies, students, and potential investors in the region, the Levan Center will provide FIBA companies with the access to other early-stage and young-startup companies, corporate partners, mentoring opportunities, a technology-focused makerspace, a showcase and pitch area, technology, innovation skills classes, and more.

“The Levan Center has created a Country Desk model attracting innovative nations from around the world to establish a presence in South Florida resulting in the negotiation of opportunities that link entrepreneurs with academia, industry, government, funders, market opportunities, and more. Our collaboration with FIBA accentuates the Levan Center’s goal to help provide opportunities to international companies that will help to booster the South Florida economy and emphasize that we are currently the hottest region for startup companies in the nation,” said John Wensveen, Ph.D., NSU’s Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Director of the Levan Center.

Israeli startups lead the world when it comes to innovation. FIBA taps into Israel’s booming entrepreneurial spirit by matching Israeli tech solutions with local commercial partners who seek to solve industry-wide pain points. Currently, FIBA focuses on solutions for labor challenges in the hospitality, agriculture and healthcare industries. To date FIBA boasts an impressive track record of connecting over 70 leading-edge Israeli tech firms with strategic partners and investors from across Florida and providing tools to expand their operations to the Sunshine State.

“Our goal is to help Israeli companies establish a presence in Florida. Some companies prefer Tampa Bay, others prefer the Space coast, and for others Broward County is the right spot. By partnering with the ambitious team at the Levan Center of Innovation, we can support these companies on both coasts of Florida.” says Rakefet Phillips, Co-Executive Director of FIBA.
