Tampa, Florida – Florida Committee Chair for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Rita M. Broadway, MG, USA, Retired announced that StemRad, Inc., Tampa, Florida received the Department of Defense Pro Patria Award for their exceptional support of the members of the Guard and Reserve that work for the organization. Recipients have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the highest-level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee. The award was requested by United States Air Force Reserve Staff Sergeant Ronrico Smith (Pictured Left). The Pro Patria Award was presented to Dr. Oren Milstein, CEO (Pictured Center) by Vice Chair FLESGR Committee, Roger Trout, LTC, USA, Retired (Pictured Right). SSG Smith stated “StemRad is incredibly supportive of their employees serving in the Reserve and National Guard. The President is personally involved with the targeted recruiting of Reserve and Guard service members (SM). StemRad is very accommodating to SM by providing extra paid time off for training as well as purchasing meals for them during employee recognition events. StemRad, while a small business, continues to provide full pay and benefits to the SM during military duty. Several employees have had short notice deployment and StemRad management and employees provide continued support and assistance to the service members.”
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense program established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflict through mediation. ESGR volunteers provide free education, consultation, and if necessary mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees. As the 35 thousand members of the National Guard and Reserve in Florida and Nationally 1.3 million members continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors.
