As seen on Tampa Bay Business Journal “EDCs, startup accelerators are behind the influx of tech companies in Tampa, St. Pete”

The Tampa Bay region has seen an influx of technology-focused companies coming from places like Boston, Washington, D.C., New York City and even Israel.
The influx over the last six months is not accidental or even coincidental, but due to years of work from both Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg economic development organizations, along with startup supporters such as the Tampa Bay Wave, the Florida-Israel Business Accelerator and Embarc Collective.
Now, that work is coming together.
“Because of workforce stresses and cost, [companies are] looking for, ‘Where is that next great tech city?'” said Steve Morey, the senior vice president of economic development at the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council. “Because of population growth, workforce, the companies already here, we’re on the radar for a lot of expansion and relocations.”
