It’s safe to say that 2018 was an incredible year for the FIBA team. It seems the theme we are bringing into 2019 is “doubling”; we are leaving 2018 and entering 2019 with double the amount of applicants, double the amount of selected companies, and thus, double the amount of employees!
We hit the ground running recruiting for our 2019 Cohort this past October and were accelerated by the addition of a liaison in Israel, Ron Kimhi. With our growing network of advisors and subject matter experts we were better equipped to sift through the abundance of applicants we received. We are happy to report that by Thanksgiving we received close to 100 applications of highly qualified companies- almost double compared to last year! We just concluded our evaluation process and selected 12 outstanding companies to join our program in early 2019. That’s right; we have almost doubled the numbers of companies we are bringing to the program (from 8 to 12). The companies will be required to spend a total of 3 weeks in Tampa and encouraged to return to Tampa frequently afterwards. We will bring 6 companies to Tampa Jan.21st-Feb.1st and another 6 companies Feb.5th-Feb.15th. The first 2 weeks in Tampa will be focused on market validation and customer discovery. All the companies will be back in Tampa on March 11th-15th for industry immersion, which will include meetings with investors, customers and strategic partners. The companies will be invited to FIBA’s annual “Innovation Fusion” event scheduled for May 23, 2019 at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC. Save the date!
